on Tuesday approved another hike of Rs 35 per quintal in state agreed price (SAP) for crushing season 2021-22. Sugarcane farmers will now get Rs 360 per quintal --- Rs 2 higher than neighbouring Haryana. The protesting farmers have now called off the agitation. Also read |

ImageBatala, Gurdaspur, Dinanagar, Pathankot, Bhoa, Hoshiarpur, Bhogpur and Dasuya comprise Punjab’s cane belt. Comparing the disparity in per quintal price, Punjab farmers were demanding a hike of Rs 90 for sugarcane. Currently, they were getting per quintal price of Rs 310, which was even lesser than that in Haryana (Rs 358). Image
