Ranjit Singh murder case: Special CBI court reserves its order against Gurmeet Ram Rahim
In a major setback for Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the Special CBI court in Panchkula on Wednesday reserved its order for August 26 in the murder case of former Dera manager Ranjit Singh. The Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim is currently lodged in Sunaria jail in Rohtak district. He was convicted by the special CBI court in Panchkula on August 25, 2017, for the rape of two sadhvis (female disciples). On January 17, 2019, the Special CBI court had sentenced him to life imprisonment for the 2002 murder of Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati. Ranjit Singh, who had reportedly developed differences with the Dera chief was shot dead near his fields in Khanpur Kolian village of Kurukshetra district on July 10, 2002. The differences were created following the allegations of rape of sadhvis against Ram Rahim. The other accused in Ranjit Singh's murder case are Avtar Singh, Inder Sain, Dera manager Krishan Lal and shooters Jasbir Singh and Sabdil Singh. -PTC News
