Reservation for General category: 10% Quota for poor of this section
Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union Cabinet has approved the 10 per cent reservation quota to the economically weaker sections among the General Category citizens on Monday. The poor section among the upper castes will get the reservation in Jobs. The government will bring the constitutional amendment bill in the parliament on Tuesday.

According to the media reports, the 10 per cent reservation benefits will be given to those people whose family income is below 8 lacs per annum. This section doesn’t get any reservation as of now. This decision came in the wake of the rising demands for quota for upper caste poor in government jobs.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo earlier pitched for quota for the upper caste poor. And now other top politicians have also been demanding reservation for upper caste poor.
