Russia-Ukraine war: 24-hour helpline for Indians in Ukraine
Russia-Ukraine war: After Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday announced "military operations" in Ukraine, the Indians in Kiev, who need information and assistance, can contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or MEA, which has established a dedicated control room. As soon as the war was declared by Russia against Ukraine, the Russian forces entered breakaway eastern Ukraine areas. Likewise, Ukraine closed its airspace after which an Air India flight going to Ukraine to bring home Indians returned to Delhi. We are closely monitoring the changing situation and the focus is on the safety and security of Indians, particularly students, the MEA said, adding that the MEA control room was being establsihed and made operational on a 24x7 basis.
Taking to Twitter, Biden said he spoke with Zelensky via a secure phone call after the Ukrainian President reached out to him. "President Zelenskyy reached out to me tonight and we just finished speaking. I condemn this unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces. I briefed him on the steps we are taking to rally international condemnation, including tonight at the UN Security Council," Biden tweeted.
