SAD chief not served summons 'personally' in Kotkapura police firing, clarifies party spokesperson Kler
Chandigarh, August 30: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday clarified that the party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal had not been served any summons by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Punjab Police in the 2015 Kotkapura police firing incident. However, in a statement, SAD spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kler said Sukhbir Singh Badal had not been served summons "personally".
At the same time, SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal also asked the Special Investigation Team to clarify if the summons being circulated in the media were issued by it.
The SIT had reportedly summoned the SAD president to appear before it on August 30 for questioning in the Kotkapura police firing incident.

Sukhbir Singh Badal was the Deputy CM and also held home affairs portfolio when the incident took place in 2015.
Arshdeep Singh Kler said the SAD chief was supposed to appear in a Zira court in Ferozepur in some other case. He claimed that the summons were being circulated on electronic and social media that the SAD chief has been called in the Kotkapura firing case. However, the summons had not been served to him personally, he added.
The SAD chief has reportedly written to the SIT to clarify whether the summons has been issued by it. Two persons were killed in Behbal Kalan while some people were injured at Kotkapura in Faridkot after the police fired at protesters in October 2015.
