Apple event 2023: Major announcements for iPhone 15 and Watch Series 9 highlights
Apple event 2023: Apple's "Wonderlust" event showcased a range of exciting new products, including the iPhone 15 series (comprising the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max), as well as the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Watch Ultra 2. Additionally, Apple proudly introduced its first carbon-neutral products in the form of its latest smartwatches, which are manufactured using clean energy and feature more eco-friendly bands.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have inherited the dynamic island feature from the previous iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models, as well as USB-C type charging. One notable improvement lies in the enhanced camera system. The main camera sensor now boasts an impressive 48-megapixel resolution, a significant leap from the 12-megapixel sensor on the previous iPhone 14. Moreover, the 12-megapixel telephoto lens and enhancements to the portrait mode mean users won't need to manually switch to portrait mode anymore. These iPhones feature a 6.1-inch screen for the iPhone 15 and a larger 6.7-inch screen for the iPhone 15 Plus. Color choices include pink, yellow, green, blue, and black.
The pricing for the iPhone 15 starts at USD 799 for the 128GB model, while the iPhone 15 Plus begins at USD 899 for the 128GB version.
Apple's iPhone 15 Pro starts at USD 999 with 128GB of storage, and the Pro Max model begins at USD 1,199 with 256GB of storage. Preorders for both will be available this Friday, with sales starting on September 22. These phones are powered by the A17 Pro chip, touted by Apple as having the fastest performance in any smartphone, even rivaling some high-end PCs. Featuring a redesigned GPU, Apple is aiming to elevate the gaming experience on these devices. Additionally, both phones come with a USB-C port instead of the old Lightning port. The physical ring/silent switch has been replaced by an "Action Button" that can be customized to perform various shortcuts and functions.
The Apple Watch Series 9 is equipped with the new S9 chip, which is claimed to be the most powerful Apple Watch to date. It boasts a 30% faster GPU while maintaining unchanged battery life. Apple has made Siri requests faster by enabling Siri requests for the watch itself. Moreover, a new feature allows Siri to access health data, with availability starting later this year in English and Mandarin. Users can now perform various tasks, such as answering calls, ending calls, opening widgets, and more, by simply tapping their thumb and forefinger together twice, without physically touching the watch.
The Apple Watch Series 9 with GPS is priced at USD 399, and the GPS with cellular version is priced at USD 499.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 shares some features with the Watch Series 9, including the new S9 chip, the "double-tap" gesture, health integration for Siri, and improved dictation. Encased in 99% recycled titanium, the Ultra 2 offers up to 36 hours of battery life, the same as its predecessor, and can extend to 72 hours in low-power mode. It is priced at USD 799 (approximately 67,000 INR) and will be available starting September 22.
