SGPC protests against SC ruling on Haryana gurdwaras, waves black flags

Amritsar, October 4: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) held a march near the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Tuesday. The SGPC also sent a demand letter to the DC. The protest march was led by SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami against the RSS and the Haryana government. Earlier, the SGPC resolved that the RSS is behind the Supreme Court's recent decision upholding the validity of the Act allowing separate gurdwara management committees for historic gurdwaras in Haryana. Notably, SGPC will also hold a ‘Khalsa March’ from Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda to Sri Akal Takht Sahib in Amritsar on October 7. Meanwhile, there are also plans to gherao Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Kahttar over the issue of separate gurdwara management committees. Members and leaders of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee led by Harjinder Singh Dhami marched from Sri Harmandir Sahib to the office of the DC Amritsar. In this regard, the president of the SGPC and its members stated that the RSS and the country's BJP government are attempting to eliminate the Sikh minority. Meanwhile, Dhami stated that he had sent a review petition to Union Home Minister Amit Shah in this regard, but had received no response. In addition, he requested time to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, but the meeting did not take place.
