Shiromani AKali Dal leaders question Brahampura's claims

Shiromani AKali Dal leaders question Brahampura's claims Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leaders Sardar Balwinder Singh Bhunder and Prof Prem SIngh Chandumajra today expressed surprise over  Sardar Ranjit SIngh Brhampura suddenly contradicting his own claims of a few days ago when he had said that he had no differences with the party leadership on any issue and that the only reason he was resigning from party posts was his age-related health issues. "Today, suddenly, he has brought up other issues which he had never spoken about either on the party platform or outside. At that time, because he wanted the party ticket for his son, Brahampura Sahib pleaded with the party leadership that sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib was not the issue and that the Congress was merely politicising it. And now, suddenly it has become an issuefor Brahampura sahib. This resort to untruths contradicts his own conduct in the  past." The Akali leaders recalled that Mr Brahapmpura was in the forefront of the party's resolution expressing total faith in the leadership of Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal immediately after the results of the Vidhan Sabha poll were declared. On several other occasions, he strongly  reaffirmed his faith in the leadership of Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal. So what has happened between today and his   last press conference in whichhe again said that he had no differences with Sukhbir SIngh and that the only reason he was resigning from party posts was his poor health which did nto allow him to perform his duties towards the party and the people." The Akali leaders said that Sardar Brahampura seems to  have some other issues to settle with the party leadership."Otherwise, none of the issues he has raised is new. If he felt strongly about any of these issues and differed with the approach adopted by the party, he mcould and should have made those differences public then. Seven years is a long time to keep quiet if you feel strongly about something.  It is not in good taste to enjoy all the privileges of power in the Akali government and also enjoy perks as a Member of the Parliament as an Akali up to this day and yet  to turn around and claim things which never occurred tohim in the past." The Akali leaders pointed out that Mr Brhamapura even today has himself admitted that the neither Sardar Parkash SIngh Badal nor Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal ever said no to any advice offered by him. Mr Bhunder and Prof Chandumajra said that  S Ranjit Singh Brahampura was always the biggest beneficiary of the large-heartedness of the party leadership. "Sardar Brahampura was the minister in the Punjab government when the Sauda Sadh committed the sacrilege of impersonation of Sahib Shri Guru Gobind SIngh ji Maharaj.  He (Brrahampura Sahib) fullybacked the line taken by the party and the government at that time. Hehas always occupied top positions in the party, next only to the party president and to Sardar Parkash SIngh Badal. He is still a member of the Parliament as an Akali. It is not in good taste to be ungrateful to a party that has given you so much, especially at a time when the party faces challenges from the enemies of the Panth," said the Akali leaders. -PTC NEWS
