India vs Pakistan: Weather could impact high-stakes T20 clash
PTC Web Desk: Rain could play spoilsport in the highly anticipated India-Pakistan Group A match on Sunday, February 15, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology has warned that a low-pressure system may form over the southeastern Bay of Bengal around the same time, raising concerns over possible interruptions or even a washout.
AccuWeather predicts scattered showers around 5 pm, a couple of hours before the match begins. During the game, rain is expected to be unlikely. Conditions are forecast to be cloudy, with temperatures near 27°C and humidity around 70 percent. Fans and teams are closely watching updates ahead of one of the T20 World Cup’s biggest encounters.
India and Pakistan eye unbeaten streaks
Both teams will also be keen to maintain their unbeaten starts in the tournament. India got off to a tense start against the United States, saved by a brilliant innings from Suryakumar Yadav, before dominating Namibia in Delhi with a record 93-run win.
Pakistan, meanwhile, overcame an early scare against the Netherlands and followed it with a solid victory over the USA, securing back-to-back wins.
Historically, India has had the upper hand in T20 World Cups, winning seven out of eight encounters with Pakistan. The only exception was Pakistan’s win in the 2021 edition at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
With both teams still undefeated, Sunday’s clash will be crucial for Super 8 qualification. India will look to strengthen their psychological advantage, while Pakistan aims to turn the tide in this historic rivalry.
