Students can now opt for 2 full-time degrees courses at same time: UGC
New Delhi, April 13: Students will now be able to pursue two full-time degree programmes in physical mode at the same time, either at the same university or from different universities, announced UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar in a press conference on Tuesday.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) is likely to issue detailed guidelines in this regard on Thursday.
"As announced in the new National Education Policy (NEP) and in order to allow students to acquire multiple skills, UGC is coming up with new guidelines to allow a candidate to pursue two degree programmes in physical mode simultaneously. The degrees can either be pursued from the same or different universities," Kumar said.
He also mentioned that students will be able to pursue two degree programmes in the physical and online modes at the same time.

“The idea is to provide as much flexibility as possible to the students. These guidelines are part of the NEP and are aimed to customise and personalise education, even allow multidisciplinary education across various domains. It is a great opportunity for students to expand their skills,” Kumar added.
The programme will be implemented from the current academic year 2022-23 and students can either pursue two degrees or a combination, for example, a degree and a diploma from either the same university or a different institute.
