Terrorism: Brother of Germany based ultra held in Punjab

Punjab: Gurdev Singh, brother of the Germany-based handler of a terror module, has been arrested by a State Crime Branch team in Amritsar for alleged involvement in dropping of arms and ammunition in Indian Territory through drones, police said. Police also seized fake Indian currency notes of around Rs 3 Lakh from his possession. Singh was brought to India from Thailand. He was at large after he got out on bail. A resident of Jhaj village in Hoshiarpur, Singh is the brother of Germany-based Gurmeet Singh Bagga, alias Doctor, who was involved in the delivery of arms and ammunition from Pakistan using drones. As per reports, Bagga works with Pakistan-based chief of the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), Ranjeet Singh, alias Neeta. Gurdev Singh stayed in Pakistan for several years. On Sunday, Punjab Police claimed to have busted a terror module of Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF). Sources said four members of the module – Balwant Singh, alias Nihang; Akashdeep Singh, alias Akash Randhawa; Harbhajan Singh and Balbir Singh were arrested from the outskirts of Chohla Sahib village in Tarn Taran. Another person, Sukhdeep Singh, was arrested with a pistol by an organised crime control unit (OCCU) team of Punjab Police on Tuesday.  New Traffic Rules: Punjab Police official fined Rs 10,000 for violating traffic rules in Chandigarh During preliminary investigations, police revealed that the GPS-fitted drones were capable of lifting up to 10 kg weight. They flew in from Pakistan seven to eight times to drop the cache of arms, ammunition and fake currency. Punjab Police seized five AK-47 rifles, 16 magazines and 472 rounds of ammunition, four Chinese-made 30 bore pistols, along with eight magazines and 72 rounds of ammunition; nine hand grenades, two mobile phones, five satellite phones with ancillary equipment, wireless sets and fake currency with face value of Rs 10 lakh. This is the first incident being reported in which drones were used to drop weapons and ammunition across the border, an official said. -PTC News
