Lawrence Bishnoi jail interview : SIT report to be submitted to Punjab and Haryana High Court
Chandigarh, December 14: The ongoing investigation into gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's alleged TV interviews conducted from a Punjab jail will have its findings presented in the high court. An SIT tasked with determining the interview's location has submitted its report to the state government, intending to present it in court.
These interviews, held on March 14 and 17, relate to Bishnoi's suspected involvement in the Sidhu Moosewala case. Criticism arose from Moosewala's father, Balkaur Singh, regarding the Punjab government's permission for interviews within the jail. However, the government denied the interviews occurred in a Punjab jail. Consequently, an SIT, led by a special DGP, investigated the matter.

The Punjab Haryana High Court previously summoned the ADGP (Jail) due to the delayed investigation, despite eight months passing since Bishnoi's interviews. Furthermore, the court ordered Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh administrations to detail actions taken to prevent mobile phone use within jails. The ADGP (Jail) is expected to submit a report on illegal mobile usage within jails, outlining preventive measures.
Earlier, the Punjab Haryana High Court reprimanded the Punjab government for not furnishing the investigation report on Bishnoi's interviews. The government, however, informed the court about a two-member committee established for the probe, citing ongoing investigations and requesting additional time to conclude them.
