Separated by Partition, Reunited by Fate: Siblings embrace after 75 years at Kartarpur Corridor

Chandigarh, May 23: In a heartwarming reunion facilitated by social media, a brother and sister who were separated during the Partition 75 years ago finally found each other at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan.

Mahinder Kaur, 81, and her family traveled from India to the gurdwara through the Kartarpur Corridor, while 78-year-old Sheikh Abdullah Aziz and his family arrived from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The Kartarpur Corridor, spanning 4 kilometers, allows visa-free access for Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit the revered Darbar Sahib. The family of Bhajan Singh, residing in Punjab, India, was torn apart during the tumultuous partition. Aziz Azad, now Sheikh Abdullah Aziz, had moved to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir while the rest of his family remained in Punjab. Aziz Azad tirelessly sought to reconnect with his long-lost family.
