‘Cry-A-Thon’ challenge: Nigerian man goes ‘blind’ while attempting to set world record
PTC News Desk: In a bid to break the Guinness World record, Tembu Ebere from Nigeria embarked on an extraordinary journey to cry non-stop for seven days. However, his ambitious attempt took a toll on his health as he lost some of his vision during the tear-shedding marathon. Reports suggest that he suffered from headaches, a swollen face, and puffy eyes before experiencing partial blindness for 45 minutes.
Determined to achieve his tear-jerking feat, Ebere persevered despite not applying to GWR, knowing that his attempt wouldn't officially count. He admitted to having to restrategize and reduce his wailing during the grueling seven-day ordeal.
Nigeria has seen an upsurge in unusual record-breaking attempts lately. Hilda Baci, a chef, made headlines in May when she attempted to cook continuously for 100 hours to elevate Nigerian cuisine's global recognition.

Supported by celebrities and the country's vice president, Baci aimed to make it into the Guinness World Records. Though she didn't achieve the full 100 hours, she managed to cook for an impressive 93 hours and 11 minutes, breaking a previous cooking marathon record set in India in 2019.
Another ambitious individual, John Obot, a schoolteacher, plans to spend 140 hours reading classic literature aloud in September. His motivation is to promote a reading culture in Nigeria and attempt a record that holds more significance.
However, Guinness World Records has cautioned Nigerians to be cautious with their crazy attempts and encouraged them to officially register their feats to ensure recognition. Farominiyi Kemi, who made two attempts to create the most puff-puffs, a local dessert, emphasized the transient nature of these crazes, expecting them to fade within a few months.
