Mohammed Shami’s estranged wife Hasin Jahan booked for alleged assault, attempted murder in land dispute row
PTC Web Desk: Hasin Jahan, the estranged wife of Indian pacer Mohammed Shami, finds herself entangled in a fresh legal battle after a police complaint was lodged against her by a neighbour. The case, reportedly rooted in a land dispute in Suri town of Birbhum district, has taken a serious turn with charges, including assault, criminal conspiracy, and attempted murder.
The complainant, identified as Dalia Khatoon, has alleged that Jahan, along with her daughter, attacked her during a heated confrontation. A video of the altercation has gone viral on social media, showing Jahan allegedly slapping a woman. However, the authenticity of the footage is yet to be independently verified.
According to local sources, the tension began when Jahan initiated construction work on a plot of land that is reportedly registered in her daughter Arshi’s name. The neighbouring family objected, claiming the land was under dispute. Dalia Khatoon, in her police complaint, accused both Jahan and her daughter of trying to physically harm her during the confrontation.
The West Bengal Police has confirmed that an FIR has been registered. An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the facts and verify the video evidence circulating online.
In a counter move, Jahan has also filed a separate complaint against Kazi Farzuddin, the husband of a local Trinamool Congress councillor, further complicating the dispute.
This isn’t the first time Hasin Jahan has made headlines for legal controversies. Her long-standing legal battle with her former husband Mohammed Shami also continues. Recently, Jahan launched another attack on Shami via Instagram, accusing him of defamation and of allegedly using criminal means to harass her amid their ongoing divorce proceedings.
A recent Calcutta High Court directive ordered Shami to pay Rs 4 lakh per month to Jahan and their daughter Aaira. The couple, who parted ways in 2018 after four years of marriage, have been embroiled in legal proceedings ever since.
In an emotionally charged social media post, Jahan wrote, “Till my last breath, we will have a strong relationship, Inshallah. The only thing left is for you to decide what kind of strong relationship that will be... Because of being characterless, greedy, and mean-minded, you ended up destroying your own family."
