Rs 370 biryani row: Comedian Pranit More issues apology after backlash, says 'got carried away, deserve hate'
PTC News Desk: Comedian Pranit More on Saturday apologized over the viral “Rs 370 biryani” controversy, saying he made a mistake by giving a platform to Himanshu Jangra and allowing the discussion to continue. He said he got carried away by Jangra’s remarks, which led to the issue escalating.
The controversy began after Jangra shared a story about a date during More’s comedy show. He suggested that because he had spent Rs 370 on a plate of chicken biryani during the outing, he expected something in return from the woman.
His comments quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism. Many people described the remarks as misogynistic and transactional, arguing that they reflected unhealthy attitudes toward dating and relationships.
Following the backlash, More expressed regret over his role in amplifying the comments and sought forgiveness from those offended by the incident.
While sharing a video on his Instagram handle, More said, "Hello, toh baat yeh hai ki main yeh baat kaafi time se karni thi, lekin mera Instagram suspend ho gaya tha. Aap sabne mera crowdwork dekha hoga, jiske wajah se mujhe kaafi hate mil rahi hai. Aur mujhe lagta hai ki main shayad is hate main deserve bhi karta hoon. (Hello, so the thing is that I wanted to say this for a long time, but my Instagram got suspended. You all might have seen my crowd work, because of which I am receiving a lot of hate. And I feel that I probably deserve this hate.)
