US court sentences Indian origin man to 33 months in prison in fraud case An Indian-origin man has been sentenced to undergo 33 months of imprisonment by the US court for mail fraud and embezzlement on Monday. The court also ordered the convict to repay USD 2.6 million in restitution. The convict has been identified as Dinesh Shankar (41) a resident of San Jose in California. He was convicted for embezzling from a medical device company. During his time in the company, he submitted false expense reports and invoices to the company’s finance department. As a result, the company paid more than half a million dollars in excess of the approved expenses and expenditures in exchange for his services.
