US court sentences Indian origin man to 33 months in prison in fraud case
An Indian-origin man has been sentenced to undergo 33 months of imprisonment by the US court for mail fraud and embezzlement on Monday. The court also ordered the convict to repay USD 2.6 million in restitution.
The convict has been identified as Dinesh Shankar (41) a resident of San Jose in California. He was convicted for embezzling from a medical device company.

According to media records, Dinesh Shankar was an employee of a medical device company from March 2013 until January 2018. During his time in the company, he submitted false expense reports and invoices to the company’s finance department. As a result, the company paid more than half a million dollars in excess of the approved expenses and expenditures in exchange for his services.

Also, Dinesh Shankar submitted falsely created invoices of his fictitious businesses run by him only. He admitted that he caused a loss of USD 2.5 million to the company before the court of law.
