Actor Vicky Kaushal visited Golden Temple on Friday and offered prayers at Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar before commencing the shoot for his upcoming film, Sardar Udham Singh. He posted a picture on Instagram with the caption, “Babaji, mehr bakshyo. #SardarUdhamSingh here we go!”
In his next, Vicky will portray the story of Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O’ Dwyer, former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in Pre-Independence India, to avenge the massacre of unarmed civilians at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar in 1919. Singh was convicted of murder and hanged on July 1940. Irrfan Khan was originally proposed to play Udham Singh, but the role eventually went to Vicky Kaushal.
The film has been produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar and will be released in 2020.
