West Bengal panchayat elections: 6 killed; ballot boxes set on fire 6 people were killed and several others were injured during the West Bengal panchayat elections as clashes broke out at several places between rival groups on Monday. Ballot boxes were also set on fire, while poll officials were attacked too during the ongoing Wes Bengal poll. West Bengal panchayat elections: 6 killed; ballot boxes set on fire The (Trinamool Congress) TMC has already won 20,163 of the total 58,692 seats unopposed— a record since the Panchayati Raj was introduced. Though it’s a battle of survival for the Left and Congress, the BJP hopes to put up a fight and establish itself as the main opposition party. Reportedly, two deaths have occurred in North 24 Parganas district. In another case, ballot papers were seen floating in a close by pond. The pond was situated near  booth in Rampur Alokmala Primary School in South 24 Parganas. Police did not find voters or representatives of political parties inside the booth. -PTC News
