Earthquake of magnitude 6.1 hits New Zealand
New Zealand, February 15: An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 on the Richter scale hits Cook Strait, New Zealand on Wednesday.
As per the sources, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 57.4 km.

The earthquake struck at 7.38pm at a depth of 76km. It was centred 50km north-west of Paraparaumu.
As per the Government seismic monitor, the tremors were felt at a depth of 48 km that is also equal to 30 miles.
As of now no causalities have been reported.
