LeT mastermind Hanzla Adnan, linked to 2015 Udhampur attack, killed in Karachi: Reports

PTC Web Desk: Hanzla Adnan, a prominent member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) responsible for orchestrating the 2015 attack on a BSF convoy in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, was allegedly killed by unidentified assailants in Karachi, Pakistan, say sources.

Hanzla Adnan was reportedly a close aide of LeT chief Hafiz Saeed. He was allegedly shot outside his residence on the intervening night of December 2 and 3, sustaining four gunshot wounds. He was taken a hospital in Karachi by the Pakistani army, but succumbed to his injuries on December 5. Notably, he had recently relocated his operational base from Rawalpindi to Karachi.

In the 2015 Udhampur attack, two BSF soldiers lost their lives while 13 others were injured, prompting an investigation by the NIA, which subsequently filed a chargesheet. Besides, Hanzla Adnan was implicated in the 2016 assault on a CRPF convoy in Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of eight CRPF personnel and injuries to 22 others.

As per reports, Adnan was sent to a LeT camp in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir to radicalise and motivate newly recruited terrorists. Allegedly supported by Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and the Pakistani army, Adnan was tasked with infiltrating India and executing terrorist operations.

The killing of Hanzla Adnan follows the death of Lakhbir Singh Rode, nephew of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, in Pakistan on December 2, reportedly due to a heart attack.
