Morocco Earthquake: A massive earthquake that rocked Morocco late Friday has killed more than 1,037 killed and 1,200 injured , interior ministry figures showed.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 18.5 kilometres at 03:41:01 (UTC 05:30). Because of the magnitude of the earthquake, waves were sent from Sidi Ifni in the south to Rabat in the north and beyond.

According to the USGS, its epicentre was located at Latitude: 31.110°N and Longitude: 8.440°W.

Orange alert issued for economic losses

The USGS's PAGER system, which offers preliminary earthquake impact assessments, issued an orange alert for economic losses, meaning that severe damage is anticipated, and a yellow alert for quake-related death, suggesting that some casualties are possible.

According to the US government agency, previous situations with this warning level have necessitated a regional or national response.

According to the US Geological Survey, "the population in this region lives in structures that are highly vulnerable to earthquake shaking."

According to global internet monitor NetBlocks, internet connectivity was disrupted in Marrakesh due to power outages in the region.

According to Moroccan media, it was the most deadly earthquake to strike the country to date.
