Rare mass shooting: 30-year-old man kills father among 12 relatives

PTC Web Desk: In an uncommon and tragic incident, official media in Iran reported on Saturday that a 30-year-old man, whose identity remains undisclosed, has allegedly killed 12 relatives, including his father and brother. The rare mass shooting occurred in a remote rural village in the south-central province of Kerman. The assailant reportedly used a Kalashnikov assault rifle in the heinous act and was subsequently shot and killed by security forces.

The authorities have pointed to a family dispute as the cause of the shocking rare mass shooting incident, although they have not provided further details. Mass killings are infrequent in Iran, where regulations strictly limit weapon ownership to hunting rifles. This grim event serves as a stark reminder of the impact of familial discord, leaving a community in mourning after the loss of 12 lives.

Notably, such occurrences are rare in Iran, where the nation generally experiences lower rates of violent crimes.
