'Time for being soft on illegal aliens over', says Trump after Indian man beheaded in US
PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump has doubled down on crackdown on illegal immigrants by his administration amid 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah's gruesome killing, who was beheaded in front of his wife and son at a motel in Dallas, Texas.
In a strongly worded statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Nagamallaiah was "brutally beheaded" by an "illegal alien from Cuba who should never have been in our country".
Meanwhile he described the victim as a "well respected person in Dallas" and promised that the accused would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
"I am aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah. This individual was previously arrested for terrible crimes, including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment, but was released back into our homeland under incompetent Joe Biden because Cuba did not want such an evil person in their country. Rest assured, the time for being soft on these illegal immigrant criminals is OVER under my watch!" Trump said.
He further said that his administration led by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Border Czar Tom Homan, was committed to "making America safe again."
The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that the suspect, 37-year-old Cuban national Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, had previously been released during the Joe Biden administration after Cuba declined to accept him back due to his criminal record.
Public records indicate that Cobos-Martinez had prior criminal involvement in Houston, as well as in Florida and California.
The incident occurred on September 10 at the Downtown Suites motel in Dallas, where both the victim, Nagamallaiah, and Cobos-Martinez worked. According to a Dallas Police arrest affidavit, the suspect was cleaning a room with a female coworker when Nagamallaiah instructed them not to use a broken washing machine.
The affidavit states Cobos-Martinez became upset when Nagamallaiah asked the coworker to translate the request instead of addressing him directly.
“Video evidence shows the suspect leaving the room, pulling out a machete, and repeatedly slashing and stabbing the complainant,” the affidavit notes. Graphic footage on social media captured Nagamallaiah screaming and running through the parking lot before being pursued and struck multiple times with the weapon.
Witnesses reported that he ran toward the motel office, where his wife and son were located, but despite their attempts to intervene, Cobos-Martinez continued the attack until Nagamallaiah was decapitated.
