18th Asian Games:Indian eves end with silver in squash team event

Hong Kong notched up a splendid 2-0 win over India to win gold in women's team event in Squash in the 18th Asian Games on Saturday.

After toppling top seed Malaysia in semifinals yesterday, expectations had risen in Indian camp for a gold in squash. But Hong Kong girls proved too strong for their opponents and fought gallantly to win the gold.
Sunayna Kuruvilla lost the first singles 1-3 and then Joshana Chinappa and Dipika Palikal Karthik also went down fighting in the doubles.
It has been India's best ever performance in Squash in Asian Games winning five medals, including a silver and four bronze medals.
Also it was in these Games that Joshua Chinappa caused a major upset by toppling world champion and defending Asian games champion David Ann Nicol in the first singles of team event yesterday.
