2 policemen killed in firing between security forces, militants
Two policemen lost their lives while one was injured in a exchange of fire between militants and security forces in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday. The wounded personnel was taken to the hospital immediately and is undergoing treatment currently. His condition is believed to be stable now, confirmed a police spokesperson.
The encounter broke out in the Arampora area of the district on Tuesday after security forces launched an operation in the wake of militants opening fire at an Army patrol party.
In a similar firing, four militants were killed in the encounter on Tuesday.
The spokesperson said the anti-militancy operation, which continued overnight, was going on when reports last came in.
