Chandigarh: Businessman kidnapped from Sector 9 in Mercedes SUV

In a shocking case, three miscreants kidnapped a businessman in his White Mercedes SUV at gunpoint from outside a gym in Sector 9 Chandigarh on Wednesday night.

The kidnappers asked the businessman to give a ransom money of 9 lakh rupees, and only then will they let him go, as per sources.

The businessman then called a friend and asked him to arrange 9 lakh rupees. The friend could manage 3 lakh only.  After handing over 3 lakh rupees as the ransom money, the businessman was released by the kidnappers near Elante Mall.

The three fled with the SUV late last night.

In the wee hours, the SUV was found with the help of the GPS service installed in the car. The car was found abandoned on the road towards the Industrial Area, Phase II, near the Kali Bari light point.

A case under sections 364 A, 392, 34 IPC and 25/54/59 Arms act has been registered. However the Chandigarh Police refused to give a statement on the same.
