ED conducts raids across Punjab, Haryana in crackdown on Dunki route immigration racket
The case of infamous 'dunki route' managed to garner nationwide spotlight after mass deportation of Indian nationals from the United States earlier this year.

PTC News Desk: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday carried out raids across Punjab and Haryana as part of the ongoing investigation in ongoing crackdown into the high-profile 'Dunki route' case.
The case of infamous 'dunki route' managed to garner nationwide spotlight after mass deportation of Indian nationals from the United States earlier this year.
The ED’s Jalandhar zonal office carried out search operations at 11 locations, including Amritsar, Sangrur, Patiala, Moga, Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Karnal.
The raids are part of the investigation into the illegal immigration racket that came to fore after hundreds of Indian nationals were deported by the US authorities in February 2024.
Several Indians arrives in India in handcuffed and their legs chained that sparked massive public outrage over the inhumane treatment by the US authorities.
The ED’s investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) is based on 17 FIRs registered by police in Punjab and Haryana against various travel agents and middlemen.
“These individuals allegedly defrauded scores of aspiring migrants by promising legitimate overseas placements, charging exorbitant sums of Rs 45–50 lakh per person,” the official said.
The Enfocement Directorate has recorded the statements of several deportees highlighting the operational structure and modus operandi of the agents who facilitate the travel by perilous 'dunky route'.
