PTC Web Desk: An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Imphal was forced to return to the national capital shortly after take-off on Thursday due to a minor technical issue. The aircraft, operating as flight 6E 5118, landed safely back at Indira Gandhi International Airport, according to the airline.

"Shortly after departure, a minor technical snag was observed. As a precaution, the pilots opted to return to Delhi," an IndiGo spokesperson said. The aircraft later resumed its journey to Imphal after undergoing standard safety checks.

This marks the second such incident for IndiGo in a span of two days.

On Tuesday, another IndiGo aircraft — flight 6E 6271 en route from Delhi to Goa — had to make an emergency landing in Mumbai after reporting an engine-related issue mid-air. The Airbus A320neo, registered VT-IZB, was flying approximately 100 nautical miles north of Bhubaneswar when the pilot made a ‘PAN PAN PAN’ call, signalling a situation requiring urgent but not life-threatening action.

Following standard operating procedures, the flight crew requested a diversion to Mumbai at around 9.32 pm. Mumbai airport authorities confirmed that emergency teams, including fire tenders and ambulances, were on standby upon landing. The aircraft landed safely at 9.53 pm, slightly ahead of schedule.

IndiGo later stated that the aircraft had experienced a technical snag and was diverted to ensure passenger safety.
