PTC Web Desk: In a chilling crime that has shocked Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, the police have arrested a taxi driver for allegedly murdering his live-in partner, beheading her and disposing of her body in a forested area near the Haryana border before returning home to make preparations for a second marriage.

The accused, identified as Bilal, was in a live-in relationship with the victim, Uma (30), for nearly two years. The police said the crime was premeditated, driven by his desire to end the relationship and marry another woman without opposition.

According to investigators, on December 6, Bilal picked up Uma from Saharanpur in his Swift car and drove around for several hours. He later took her to a remote location near the Lal Dhang gorge, close to Kalesar National Park, where he allegedly killed her and severed her head. Uma’s headless body was later discovered in the forest area, prompting a joint investigation by Uttar Pradesh and Haryana police.

After committing the crime, Bilal reportedly returned to Saharanpur and went about his routine, including shopping for his upcoming wedding, raising no immediate suspicion. The police said the case was cracked after sustained questioning, during which the accused confessed and guided officials to the location where he had hidden the severed head. Efforts are ongoing to recover the murder weapon and complete forensic procedures.

Investigators revealed that Uma, a mother of a 13-year-old boy, had been living alone in Saharanpur following multiple personal disputes. Her son resides with his father. The police said Bilal financially supported Uma, while his family was unaware of their relationship.

Preliminary findings suggest that Bilal carefully planned the killing to remove Uma from his life, as he intended to marry another woman. The secrecy surrounding their relationship and frequent conflicts reportedly added to the tension between the couple.

Uma’s relatives said they were informed about the incident only after the police contacted them during the investigation. Her brother stated that the family rushed to Yamunanagar after learning that an unidentified body had been found, only to later discover it was Uma who had been brutally murdered.

Bilal has been booked on charges of murder and destruction of evidence. Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and strengthen the case with forensic proof.
