PTC Web Desk: An Additional Station House Officer (SHO) posted at Dhariwal police station lost his life in a tragic road accident in Gurdaspur district after an ambulance collided with another vehicle amid dense fog late Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sulakhan Ram, Additional SHO of Dhariwal. His daughter and the ambulance driver sustained serious injuries in the crash.

According to official sources, Sulakhan Ram suddenly fell ill while on duty inside the police station premises. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Gurdaspur. As his condition deteriorated, family members decided to shift him to Amritsar for advanced care.

However, while the ambulance was en route to Amritsar, it met with a severe accident near Sohal village. Poor visibility due to heavy fog on the national highway is believed to be the primary cause of the collision.

Police officials said fog had started settling in the area by Thursday evening and became extremely dense at night, significantly reducing visibility for motorists and leading to hazardous driving conditions.

In the accident, Sulakhan Ram died on the spot. His daughter suffered critical injuries, while the ambulance driver was also seriously hurt and is undergoing treatment.
