PTC Web Desk:  Traffic rule violators, take note! The Punjab Police Housing Corporation is all set to begin the work of city surveillance and traffic management system in Mohali.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said it would help the Mohali Police to maintain law and order, besides issuing e-challans for red light jumping, over speeding, triple riding and driving without helmet.

The e-challan platform would be integrated with NIC-based databases such as 'Vahan' and 'Sarathi'. The DC added that in the first phase, the system would be functional at 20 locations in Mohali city. The project would cost Rs 8.50 crore and funds had already been allocated to the Punjab Police Housing Corporation (PPHC) for the same.

As per information, the Command and Control Centre for 24x7 monitoring of the system would be set up at the Sohana police station in Sector 79.

Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation, one of the bidders, has set up a camera at traffic lights of 66/80 sectors.
