Punjab: Bambiha gang member escapes from police custody in Faridkot

Lawrence Bishnoi is also admitted at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot

Faridkot, July 15:  A member of the Bambiha gang managed to give the police the slip in the wee hours of Saturday. Surinder Pal Singh, alias Billa, was under treatment at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot. He was apprehended by the Faridkot police on July 11 following an encounter.

Notably, Lawrence Bishnoi is also admitted to this hospital due to gastroenteritis problem. 

Surinder Pal Singh, alias Billa, was undergoing treatment at the local medical college after sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg during exchange of fire between the police and three criminals.



However, despite the presence of a strong police force at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot, member of the Bambiha gang Billa managed to escape at 4 am. Jasmeet Singh, SP (D) of Faridkot, was reported as saying that "search operations is underway to locate the escaped criminal".

He said appropriate disciplinary measures would also be taken against police officials responsible for the lapse in duty at the hospital.

Billa and his two associates are accused of firing into the air to intimidate a trader for getting extortion money from him in Jaito town of the district this month.

On July 11, the police arrested these gangsters after an exchange of fire with the miscreants. One of them was injured during the exchange.
