Punjab crime: SAD leader and Majithias close aide Makhwinder Mukha shot at in Majitha, condition critical

PTC Web Desk: In another glaring example of poor law and order situation in Punjab, SAD leader Makhwinder Singh Mukha was critically injured after being shot at by unidentified assailants in the Majitha constituency of Amritsar district.
According to police sources, the incident took place 7 am at Theriwal Chowk area when Mukha, a resident of Marri Khurd village, had gone to drop his niece Pawanpreet Kaur at a bus stop for college. Three unidentified youths on motorcycles reportedly opened fire at him before fleeing the spot.
Locals immediately rushed the injured leader to a private hospital in Amritsar, where his condition is stated to be critical.
Makhwinder Singh Mukha is known to be a close associate of senior Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia. The police have cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to nab the attackers. The motive behind the shooting is yet to be determined.
A senior police officer said an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to trace the culprits through CCTV footage from nearby areas.
