Balbir Singh Rajewal, Gurnam Charuni now not part of high-powered panel

Sanyukt Samaj Morcha leader Balbir Singh Rajewal and farmer leader Gurnam Charuni have been excluded from the high-powered panel, the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha said on Sunday. It has also been reported that both Balbir Singh Rajewal and Gurnam Charuni will also not be part of the Minimum Support Price (MSP)-focused committee. It may be recalled that SKM had already clarified that it has nothing to do with the declaration by some farmers’ organizations of Punjab to form a “Samyukta Samaj Morcha” for contesting Punjab Assembly elections 2022. Sanyukt Kisan Morcha has been adamant on its stand of not allowing any political party to use its banner or stage. “Any attempt to use the name of SKM for elections will constitute a grave violation of Morcha’s discipline,” read the statement issued by SKM on December 26, 2021. The farmer leaders have maintained that the SKM, a platform of more than 400 different ideological organizations across the country, was formed only for the issues of farmers.
