BJP ensured graft-free govt says Khattar on completion of 4 yrs of rule in Haryana

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Thursday said the present BJP government in the state had ensured a graft-free and transparent administration during four years of its rule. While enlisting the achievement of the state government, the chief minister said that out of the total 176 promises made in the election manifesto, 160 have been fulfilled. "The remaining are in the process which would also be fulfilled soon," he said. Khattar said that unlike the previous governments in the state, the BJP government in Haryana, which completed four years in office Thursday, has ensured a corruption-free and transparent administration. "As we now enter into the fifth year, which is the poll year, the government will shift its gear from fourth to fifth to further expedite the development process of the state," he told a news conference here. He said that the social security pension, including the old age allowance, would be enhanced from Rs 1,800 per month to Rs 2,000 per month with effect from November 1 this year. Khattar, who was flanked by many ministerial colleagues, including Abhimanyu, Naib Singh Saini and Krishan Kumar Bedi, hit out at the previous Congress regime. "We made only those announcements which could be fulfilled, unlike the previous government where announcements were made without making adequate budgetary provisions," he said. Quoting an example, he said that the previous government had, on November 1, 2013, made several big announcements, but later the officers concerned found that the required budget was not made available to implement the same. He claimed the previous government on an average had made 6,500 announcements during their 10 years, "whereas we have made 6,800 announcements in four years". He said in the last four years, the budget of the state has been increased by 90 per cent and it would be further increased to 100 per cent by the end of the fifth year of this government. He alleged that his predecessors in the state used the power "as an object of enjoyment". "Contrary to this, we are working with the spirit to serve the people. During the previous governments, the people saw large-scale corruption, nepotism and regionalism. In the politics of over 48 years, they worked to divide the society into the caste lines," he said. "But after taking over the reign in the state, we gave the slogan of 'Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek' and brought about a change in the system by rising above the party lines. The people of the state have also accepted this change and put its stamp on the working of the present state government," Khattar added. PTI
