Burkina Faso: Children aged between 12-14 carried out Solhan massacre killing 130 people

Solhan massacre: In a shocking incident, a massacre took place this month in northeast Burkina Faso in which 130 people were killed. Reportedly, the attack was carried out mostly by children between the ages of 12 and 14, the United Nations and the government said. The assailants, armed, raided the village of Solhan in Burkina Faso on June 4 and opened fire on residents, and even burned homes. It is said to be the worst attack in years in an area plagued by jihadists linked to Islamic State and al Qaeda. This is a grave violation of their fundamental rights." About 100 killed in Burkina Faso in deadliest attack since 2015 - Times of India Meanwhile, the attacks by Islamist extremists continue across West Africa's Sahel region, including neighbouring Mali and Niger. It is being carried out despite interventions from UN peacekeepers and international armed forces. The local officials said that child soldiers were being used by Islamist groups over the past year.
