COVID-19: The government of India on Wednesday directed the States and UTs to regulate the crowded places in an order to avoid the Kanwar Yatra 2021: Supreme Court issues notice to Centre, UP government to allow pilgrimage
The direction comes in view of the "blatant violations" of Covid norms in several parts of the country, especially in hill stations at a time when the third wave of coronavirus has already started in various countries.

There is a possibility that it will hit India if people would not adhere to the COVID-appropriate behaviour specified by the government.
In an advisory to the Chief Secretaries of all the states, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) stated that the officers concerned should be made responsible for any laxity in strict enforcement of Covid appropriate behaviour.
It referred to MHA's June 29 order regarding the implementation of targeted and prompt action for Covid-19 management in line with the advisory of Union Health Ministry dated June 28.
Ajay Bhalla mentioned there was a need to ensure if the Covid norms were not maintained at any establishment, premises, market. Such places should be liable for the re-imposition of restrictions.
The advisory came after crowds were thronging the marketplaces violating norms of social distancing and increased 'R' factor (Reproduction number) in some of the states were being reported.

The Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla wrote a letter to the Chief Secretaries and Administrators of State and UTs, urging them to issue strict directions to the district and other local authorities to regulate the crowded places and take necessary measures for the management of COVID-19.
