5 held for stealing life-saving injections from PGI's ENT ward

PTC News Desk: The Chandigarh police have arrested five suspects in connection with the theft of costly injections worth several lakh from the ENT ward of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). 


The cops have also seized a vehicle bearing a Punjab number plate, reportedly used in the crime. The incident has raised alarming concerns over the security of such expensive medical supplies. 

The arrests were made after receiving tip-off and PGI security personnel laid a trap and apprehended the culprits. Their movements were captured in CCTV that helped in the identification of all the accused. 

According to the reports, theft was part of a major racket being operated with the stolen medicines being sold to a chemist near the hospital.
