In a total collapse of the Panchayat poll process, the congress party today in gross misuse of state machinery rejected the papers of the Shriomani Akali Dal candidates contesting for Sarpanch’s and Panches in the state.

Dr Daljit Singh Cheema senior Vice President and spokesperson of SAD in a hard hitting statement has condemned the undemocratic and arbitrary attitude of the congress party for misusing the “bureaucracy “ for rejecting en mass the papers of the candidates of SAD in the state. Quoting statistics of rejections, Cheema rued that SAD candidates were first not allowed to even file there nomination papers in Zira, Guru Harshai, and Ferozepur. The violation of the poll process is so acute that in Gurdaspur constituency alone nomination papers of candidates of SAD in Qadian, Fatehgarh Churrian and Dera baba Nanak were rejected outwardly to facilitate the weak congress candidates.

The senior Vice President Cheema lamented that it is a total murder of democracy as the real democratic spirit starts from these rural Panchyat polls. “ the congress party has left no stone unturned by violating the democratic process. “ In khem karan SAD candidates were not allowed to even file there respective papers for contesting the sarpanch’s and Panches elections. While in Tarn Taran district 25 percent nomination papers have been rejected to accommodate the congress candidates. “where ever SAD was strong, the state machinery has been used by the congress regime to get the winning candidates papers rejected”. In Patti alone 90 percent of the nomination papers have been rejected to give the congress an advantage. “ This is no democracy its total farce and our party condemns the violations and unlawful rejections of nomination papers of SAD candidate. The congress is totally routed in the villages and that is the riason d’être that unfair practices are being pursued by the congress party to save face .

However we are confident that we will give them a befitting reply. SAD is a political party which has never covered down in front of might and power . “ Rather we are the Valiant soldiers of the state when it comes to protect the democratic spirit .” Said Cheema.
