Congress resorted to electoral fraud in selecting its CM, alleges SAD

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday stated that former Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar's recent statement over the election of Chief Minister of Punjab has exposed the Congress high command's electoral fraud in the name of inner-party democracy. Notably, senior Congress leader on Wednesday stated that after the removal of Captain Amarinder Singh from CM's chair, he (Jakhar) was not elected to the top post, despite overwhelming support from the party legislatures. Now, former state minister and SAD leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema has slammed the grand old party and demanded the immediate resignation of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Now that Sunil Jakhar had revealed that he had received the support of 42 legislators and that Sukhjinder Randhawa secured the support of 16 MLAs, Preneet Kaur of 12 and Charanjit Channi of two, it was up to the Congress high command to set the record straight, added Dr Cheema. “Congress high command also owes an explanation to the party rank and file as to why it did not proceed on the principle of inner-party democracy. This also reflects that the inner-party democracy which the Congress proclaims is a sham and that it is still run in a dictatorial manner by the Gandhi family," he concluded.
