Air India to begin special domestic flights from May 19: Report

Air India will be operating the special domestic flights from various cities between May 19 and June 2 to help the passengers stranded across the country to reach home. The Passengers have to pay for the seats for which the bookings are yet to begin. As per the report, a majority of flights are from Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Reportedly, Chennai will have one flight: Kochi-Chennai on May 19. Likewise, Delhi will have 173 flights, Mumbai 40, Hyderabad 25 and Kochi 12. Meanwhile, the flights from Delhi will be operated to Jaipur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Vijayawada, Gaya, Lucknow and a few other cities. Also, Air India will operate flights from Mumbai to Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Vijayawada. Likewise, there are flights from Hyderabad to Mumbai, Delhi and back. Bengaluru will be having flights to Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad and an incoming flight from Bhubaneswar. A senior Air India official stated that the schedule is ready and it is waiting for a nod from the ministry of civil aviation. The schedule is prepared as part of phase-2 of evacuation flights to bring Indians from abroad. It will also depend on the quarantine rules, an official said, adding that the operation was scheduled to begin on May 15 but was postponed to 17. Now, it has been decided to begin on May 19 on the basis of the ministry’s approval. -PTC News
