CBSE issues preventive measures against spread of coronavirus at examination centers

In the wake of novel coronavirus (COVID 19), the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday issued guidelines for the rest of the board examinations. It said that each center superintendent should ensure that candidates are seated at a distance of at least one meter from each other and masks are provided to the candidates who cough/sneeze. The CBSE stated in a release that examinations for 165 subjects have been held so far, while those for 51 subjects remain. Meanwhile, only 7 board examinations are left that pertain to subjects that have the candidates of more than one lakh students of CBSE affiliated schools in India and abroad. The exams are to be conducted on March 17, 18, 20, 21, 23 and 24. In the rest of the subjects, the candidates range between 3000 to 5000 approximately, the release added. The superintendents have been asked to ensure that the candidates for board exams are seated at a minimum physical distance of one meter from one another. It has also been directed that in case of shortage of classrooms, other rooms like Library, Auditoriums, Laboratories may be used. Meanwhile, the assistant superintendents have been advised to cover nose and mouth with face masks and carry hand sanitizers during invigilation duty. If a candidate found coughing/sneezing then the invigilator must provide the candidate with a face mask. If the coughing/sneezing persists after providing face masks, then the superintendent should make immediate local arrangements to provide a separate examination room.
