Coronavirus Outbreak: Delhi Police clears protest site in Shaheen Bagh and Jafrabad area

Amid coronavirus outbreak, Delhi Police on Tuesday vacated the protesters against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) from Shaheen Bagh and Jafrabad areas. The women protesters have been on the sit-in for over three months in rage against the newly amended citizenship law. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) RP Mishra stated that people protesting at Shaheen Bagh were requested to leave the site as lockdown has been imposed in the national capital due to coronavirus outbreak. However, the agitators refused and hence the action was taken against them. Delhi Government on Sunday announced a complete lockdown in the national capital in the wake of coronavirus spread. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter on Monday and wrote: "We have taken the extreme step of lockdown from today. Why? I need your cooperation. Answers to some of your common queries. I am convinced that we can defeat Corona if we put up a united fight." Please save yourself, save your family, follow the instructions seriously. I request the state governments to get the rules and laws followed."
