Covid-19: India logs 1,088 new cases in 24 hours

New Delhi, April 13: India reported 1,088 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the data updated by Union Health Ministry on Wednesday. With this, India's active cases stand at 10,870, accounting for 0.03 per cent of the total infections. The daily positivity rate in India is 0.25 per cent, while the recovery rate is currently at 98.76 percent. As many as 1,081 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, while the total recoveries till now are 4,25,05,410, updated the Health Ministry. A total of 186.07 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive, informed the health bulletin.

India's Covid cases drop below 1,000 mark According to the Ministry, over 191.19 crore vaccine doses were provided to States and UTs while more than 19.88 crore balance and unutilised vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs. "In the new phase of the universalization of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs", the official release read. India's Covid recovery rate at 98.76% Furthermore, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a review meeting regarding the new Coronavirus strain- 'XE variant' on Tuesday and directed the officials to boost the ongoing monitoring and surveillance in the country. As per a statement by the health ministry, Mandaviya has instructed officials on the medical infrastructure and resources front to constantly review the availability of essential drugs and medicines required for Covid-19 treatment. "He further emphasized that the ongoing vaccination drive must be carried out at full pace and all eligible should be vaccinated," it stated. Paul, member, Health, NITI Aayog; Rajesh Bhushan, Union Health Secretary; Dr Randeep Guleria, Director at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS); Dr Balram Bhargava, Director General (DG) of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR); Dr NK Arora, Chairman of Covid-19 Working Group of National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI), and other senior officials of the Health Ministry were among the attendees.
