Covid strain in India: The total number of persons found infected with the mutant UK strain of coronavirus is 96, the Health Ministry stated on Monday. As of Saturday, the number of people infected with mutant UK strain of coronavirus was at 90. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has stated that all these people were kept in single-room isolation at the designated healthcare facilities by state governments. "Their close contacts have also been placed under quarantine while a comprehensive contact-tracing exercise has been started for the co-travellers, family members and others, the ministry added. Besides the Covid strain in India, the mutant UK strain of the coronavirus has been reported by several countries, including Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, Italy, Sweden, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Japan, Lebanon and Singapore. After the new strain was detected in the United Kingdom, several countries had temporarily suspended flights from the country. Likewise, India had also suspended its flights to and from the UK but later resumed it partially. Similarly, the Delhi government started a door-to-door medical check-up for those who arrived from the UK.
