Diljit Dosanjh tweaks song lyrics, hits back at Telangana govt after ban on songs promoting alcohol

PTC News Desk: Diljit Dosanjh recently criticised the Telangana government after receiving a notice prohibiting him from singing songs promoting alcohol, drugs, or violence during a concert in Hyderabad. In reaction, the singer changed the lyrics of some of his songs.

However, Diljit took advantage of the opportunity to attack the government for imposing such restrictions on him, despite the fact that international artists performing in the city face no such restrictions.

In a viral video of the concert, Diljit was heard saying, "When artists from other nations come to India, they are free to do and sing whatever they want. But when an artist from your nation sings, people have a lot of issues."

He noted that some people weren't happy with the scale of his concerts. He stated, "Some people cannot digest the fact that such big shows are happening and that tickets are sold out in two minutes...Bro, I've been working for many, many years. I did not become famous overnight."

Diljit also discussed concert ticket black marketing, which he saw as a global concern. He stated that this practice is not unique to India, with similar situations occurring overseas, but reassured fans that the government is actively striving to avoid such acts. Government ispe kaam kar rahi hai (Government is working on this)," he added.

Several videos from Diljit's Hyderabad concert, during which he altered the lyrics to his songs, have gone viral on social media. For instance, in one such video, Diljit is seen performing his hit song "Lemonade," with the words changed from "Tainu teri daaru ch pasand aa Lemonade" to "Tainu teri coke ch pasand aa Lemonade." Diljit modified the lyrics of another song, 5 Taara, from "5 Taara thekke utthe" to "5 Taara hotel ch." Diljit couldn't help but laugh at the changed lyrics.
