Haryana's Mayank scripts history, wins Rs 1 crore at 'KBC 15'
PTC News Desk: Mayank, an eighth-grade student, made history on the 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 15' by becoming the youngest child to win Rs 1 crore.
Mayank, who is from Mahendragarh in Haryana, won one crore points in the 'KBC Juniors Week'. The boy easily won over the show's host, Amitabh Bachchan, who was captivated by Mayank's intelligence and wit.
Mayank was asked a crore question: “Which European cartographer is credited with creating the map that gave the name 'America' to the newly discovered continent?”
The options were A: Abraham Ortelius, B: Gerardus Mercator, C: Giovanni Battista Agnese, and D: Martin Waldseemuller. Mayank took the 'Ask the Expert' lifeline and provided the correct answer--Martin Waldseemuller.
Mayank began crying after winning the large sum of money and hugged his parents and the actor. Following this achievement, Big B stated, “Let me tell the viewers that he is the youngest crorepati winner.”
“Sir, sorry for the interruption, but I want to give you a high five. Sir, even tall people could not give you a high five, but I did I will make my friends jealous,"the class 8 student said.
Moving on to the seven crore question, Mayank was asked: “Subedar NR Nikkam and Havildar Gajendra Singh were awarded the Order of the Red Star by Russia for conveying supplies to which city during World War II?” Options given were: A: Tabriz, B: Sidon, C: Batumi, D: Almaty.
Mayank decided to leave the game show and received Rs 1 crore.
Tabriz was the correct answer to the Rs 7 crore question.
"I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to display my knowledge on ‘KBC Juniors Week' and play the game opposite Amitabh sir, who motivated me throughout," Mayank stated.
"Being the youngest contestant and winning such a large sum is a moment of pride for me and my family. We are huge fans of the show and Bachchan. "I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank my parents for their consistent guidance, which enabled me to play well and achieve the Rs 1 crore milestone," he added.
