Shefali Jariwala, 'Kaanta Laga' and Bigg Boss 13 fame, dies at 42 in Mumbai
Shefali Jariwala death: Shefali Jariwala, best known for her breakout performance in the early 2000s music video 'Kaanta Laga' and her appearance on 'Bigg Boss 13', has passed away at the age of 42. The actress reportedly died late Friday night in Mumbai.
According to sources, Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, but doctors declared her dead on arrival. The cause of her sudden demise has not been made public by her family.
Her body has been moved to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police officials are present at her residence, questioning domestic staff, including the cook and house help, as part of routine investigation procedures in sudden death cases.
Shefali rose to instant fame in 2002 with the hit music video 'Kaanta Laga', which became a cultural phenomenon. She later appeared in the Salman Khan-starrer 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' (2004), and participated in several reality shows. including 'Nach Baliye' (Seasons 5 and 7) with husband Parag Tyagi. Her stint on Bigg Boss 13 brought her back into the limelight, where her composed demeanor and strong personality were widely appreciated.
The news of her untimely death has deeply shocked the entertainment industry and her fans. Singer Mika Singh, who shared a close friendship with Shefali for over 25 years, expressed his grief on social media. “Still can’t believe it... Rest in peace my friend. You’ll always be remembered for your charm and spirit,” he wrote.
Actress Kamya Punjabi, visibly shaken, posted on Instagram, “I can’t process this... my heart is sinking. Shefali…”
Bigg Boss 13 co-contestants, including Tehseen Poonawalla and Paras Chhabra, also paid emotional tributes online, remembering her warmth, vibrancy, and the memories they shared.
Shefali Jariwala’s passing comes as yet another shock to the Bigg Boss 13 family, following the untimely death of Siddharth Shukla in 2021. The entertainment fraternity mourns the loss of yet another beloved figure.
