Karnataka BJP MP S Muniswamy on Farmers Protest: As the Centre failed to come out with a solution in its eight rounds of meeting, farmers continued to camp at Delhi borders in a protest against farm laws 2020. Several political leaders have given controversial remarks on the agitation.
In a fresh row, Karnataka BJP MP S Muniswamy alleged that farmers agitating at Delhi borders have been paid and brought to the protesting sites.
S Muniswamy is BJP MP from Kolar. He said that those participating in farmers' protest against farm laws 2020 at Delhi borders were middlemen and fake farmers, adding that they are eating pizza, burgers and have also set up a gym at the site.
“Farmers protesting at borders of Delhi have been paid and brought to the agitation sites. They are middlemen and fake farmers. They are eating pizza, burgers and KFC products, and have set up a gym there. This drama should stop,” Muniswamy was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Farmers in huge numbers from various states have been protesting against the farm laws on the outskirts of the national capital since November 26.
In another remark, Rajasthan BJP MLA Madan Dilawar on Saturday said that the “so-called farmers” were not participating in the movement and instead conspiring to "spread bird flu” by “enjoying chicken biryani".
He had also said that “there may be terrorists, robbers, and thieves among them. They want to ruin the country, he said, adding that If govt doesn't remove them from the agitation sites, then bird flu can become a big issue.
The Centre and farmers have, so far, held eight rounds of meetings but failed to achieve any major breakthrough. Meanwhile, both sides are scheduled to hold another round of meetings on January 15.
